Letter writers at Beaver Brae and Knox United are advocating on behalf of youth from Grassy Narrows. Jan Richardson of Knox says it’s part of this year’s campaign put on by Amnesty International.

“It highlights he fact that we have to be careful about what is going on in our own backyard, as well as what is going on in the world-wide situation,” she said.

Jianne Turtle is one of 10 youth around the world, who have been chosen for this year’s letter-writing campaign.

“It’s essential that we listen to their problem here and insist that it is rectified,” she said.

Grassy Narrows Elder Judy Da Silva will be a guest for Tuesday evening’s session at Knox.

Last year, close to 6 million letters were written from more than 200 countries.
