Speaking at a news conference in Toronto, Grassy Narrows Chief Rudy Turtle and Grassy Narrows elder and mercury sufferer Bill Fobister Sr. call on the federal government to move quickly to construct the Mercury Care Home for their community. The home was promised to the Grassy Narrows First Nation in 2017 by Jane Philpott, who was minister of indigenous services at the time. Leroy and Brian Fobister, the sons of the late Grassy Narrows chief Simon Fobister, also speak at the news conference.

The northern Ontario community continues to suffer from the effects caused by industrial dumping of mercury in its waterways during the 1960s. (October 28, 2019) (no interpretation)
