Wood allocation doesn’t include traditional lands, MNRF
The province says they’ve been able to allocate wood for the restart at Kenora Forest Products. The supply will come from parts of the Whiskey Jack Forest — which are outside of the traditional lands claimed by Grassy Narrows — as well as Kenora, Red Lake and Trout Lake Forests.
The sawmill started producing lumber earlier this month. It had been idle since 2008.
There’s been a permanent roadblock on parts of the Whiskey Jack since December 2002.
