Canada's Top Five Banks
While the global finance sector begins to move toward the path of reconciling economy with ecology with groundbreaking policies from Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, Canadian banks have not kept pace.
Rainforest Action Network’s global finance campaign is focusing on pressuring Canada’s top five banks to stop bankrolling contentious oil, gas and forestry operations that are fueling climate change, fragmenting Canadian wilderness, destroying critical habitat for threatened and endangered species, and contributing to on-going human rights abuses. Canada’s five top banks are: Scotia Bank, RBC, BMO, CIBC and Toronto Dominion. Scotia Bank, RBC AND CIBC all have business relationships with Weyerhaeuser and/or Abitibi.
